This year marks the 120th anniversary of what would become known as the modern-day whistle-stop campaign train tour. That’s when, between July and November of 1896, Democratic presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan took advantage of the nation’s sprawling railroad system to reach voters at hundreds of train stations.
